Bloembollenmarkt op Keukenhof
The Dutch National Bulb Market, which will be held from 14 to 16 October, inclusive, in the Oranje-Nassau Pavilion at Keukenhof, Lisse, offers an exceptional range of exclusive and extraordinary bulbs. They are shown by growers that have specialised in the cultivating of bulbs that are anything but commonplace. The Bulb Market will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entry and parking are free of charge. More information, click here

Keukenhof, behind the scenes -
Johan Braam,Keukenhof gardener

Even after the open season, Keukenhof requires maintenance. We take all of the bulbs out of the ground, and we till and fertilise the flower beds. The perennials border plants, the grass fields, the bushes and hedges demand attention as well. The new planting season starts again in September: first the bulbs and later, the grass seed. It’s a year-round race against Mother Nature’s clock.

Hello, I am Jasper and I am the garden designer of Keukenhof. In everey newsletter I will give garden "tips and tricks".

Plant several kinds of dry bulb that have successive flowering periods. This means planting the bulbs in multiple layers, one over another, according to the “lasagna system”: early-flowering bulbs in the upper layer, bulbs that flower later and last in the middle and deepest layers. The result will be: weeks of colour!
